v0.6.1-beta is a reliability-and-security patch — no new verbs and no change to your playbooks. It makes returning a licence when you uninstall correct and dependable, keeps the rest of your set running when you remove a single daemon, tightens a few on-host safeguards, and picks up a routine dependency-security update. A quick apt upgrade is recommended; nothing to configure.
| Version | 0.6.1-beta |
| Released | 8 July 2026 |
| Theme | Licence-return reliability on uninstall & security hardening (vocabulary stays 64) |
| Compatibility | Fully compatible; no daemon, verb or grammar changes since 0.6.0-beta — a routine apt upgrade |
- Uninstalling returns your licence, reliably. When you remove Binions from a host, the licence is now always released back to your portal — freeing its slot so you can reinstall on another machine. On some systems the release step could previously be skipped silently; it now runs every time.
- Removing one daemon no longer affects the rest of your set. A set licence covers every daemon on a host under a single key. Removing one daemon now keeps that key — and every other running daemon — exactly in place; the licence is returned only when you remove the whole set. If you deliberately want to release the whole set while removing a single package, an explicit option is available.
- Removing one component will not stop the others. Uninstalling a single daemon no longer disturbs the rest of the running stack.
- Tighter licence-file permissions. On-host licence files are now stored so that only the platform’s own accounts can read them, rather than being world-readable.
- Storefront reliability. Purchase handling on the portal is sturdier — a licence is issued exactly once per purchase, and payments that settle asynchronously are handled safely.
- Security advisory picked up. A dependency advisory (
RUSTSEC-2026-0204) was resolved with a routine version bump.
If you run the platform from packages, apt update && apt upgrade moves the fleet to 0.6.1-beta-1; your licence binding and your running daemons are unaffected by the upgrade itself. If you ever remove individual daemons from a host — trimming a set down to the components you use — this is the release to be on. The daemons, the sixty-four-verb vocabulary and the playbook grammar are exactly as they were in 0.6.0-beta. Nothing to reconfigure.
